Cristina García: A Remarkable Journey from Mexico to the Texas Legal Arena

Cristina García is a highly accomplished Mexican attorney with dual licenses in Texas and Mexico.

Born in Mexico and raised in a society marked by significant inequality, she developed an unwavering commitment to uncovering the truth in situations of injustice. Upon moving to Austin in 2006, she joined the Consulate of Mexico. In 2007, she accepted a diplomatic assignment as the Chief of Staff for the Ambassador of Mexico in China. In 2009, she found her true calling at Steve Pastrana’s Personal Injury Law Firm.

Cristina furthered her education, obtaining an LLM from the University of Texas in Austin. She passed the Texas Bar Exam in 2019, gaining dual licensure and obtaining the partnership of the firm, which was subsequently renamed to Pastrana & García Injury Law. In 2023, she was lauded as one of Texas’s Top 100 lawyers, a testament to her unwavering dedication to justice and client advocacy. Also, she was recognized as one of the Top 10 attorneys in Austin by My Austin Magazine. (Read full article here)

More recently, Cristina became member of Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association. She commits to helping the community by participating in the Pro Bono Pledge, dedicating a minimum of 50 hours each year to provide legal services to those who would not otherwise be able to afford them.

In his article “Cristina García, from Double Minority to Double Licensed,” Danyl K. Jones recognizes Cristina´s uniqueness as a Latina Woman Attorney: “What differentiates her from other attorneys is the empathy that she displays for what her clients are going through. Her experience as a double minority in her field (a woman and Hispanic) is the same experience that gives her the strength to efficiently serve her clients.” (Read more here page 12-13). She is known affectionately as “La Mera Mera Abogada de Accidentes” by her Hispanic clients.

Cristina is also known for being a dynamic and passionate woman dedicated to empowering and uplifting her fellow women. Cristina is not just a participant but a sponsor of various women empowerment forums, to mention some: “Mujeres Que Se Atreven y Superan Limites”, “UpLevel Her”, “Congreso Annual de Mujeres”, “Foro Empresarial by Mujeres Couture” . Austin Woman Magazine recognizes this by including her in their special section, “Woman To Watch”.

Frequently Asked Questions

One thing Cristina García often explains to clients is that the costs of an injury can be very high. A permanent, serious injury can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars or even more in medical treatment alone. For many people, being too injured to work can make the situation more stressful. Even having to replace a car or truck after a traffic accident can be overwhelming.

Negligence means that someone didn’t take reasonable action to prevent an injury or was reckless and caused an injury. For example, if a driver is speeding and hits you, causing you a head injury, they may be considered negligent. We may also be able to say they are liable, which means they may be legally responsible for causing your injuries.

Under Texas law, if someone’s negligence causes your injuries, you may have a legal claim. This means you can work with an attorney to have that person found liable, and you can seek compensation for your injuries.

You can seek compensation for anything you have had to pay for because of your injury, including:

  • Any medical bills that are related to your injury
  • Any lost wages you have suffered because of your injury
  • Any personal property damage, including the cost of having your car or other property repaired after it was damaged in the accident
  • Any incidental costs related to your injury, such as the cost of taking taxis while you can’t drive
  • Any future expected expenses your injury may cause

Every case is different, and how much you can get will depend on your injuries. The experience of your attorney can also play a role. This is why many people turn to La Mera Mera Abogada. They want an attorney with the experience and care to pursue fair compensation.

Figuring out how much your case may be worth is complicated. Let us take care of it. If you’re injured, contact La Mera Mera Abogada at 512-474-4487. In a free consultation, we can talk about what fair compensation could look like in your case.
